Would you like to buy a flexible badminton racquet, but it is not clear to you which flexibility suits your style of play best? Then we at KW FLEX are here for you! Our expertise will help you find the right racket.

Different types of flexibility

We have made a distinction between 5 different types of flexibility. This allows you to accurately determine which type is most suitable for you and what your playing style benefits most.

Extra stiff (Stiff ●○○○○ Flexible)
Stiff (Stiff ○●○○○ Flexible)
Medium flexible (Stiff ○○●○○ Flexible)
Flexible (Stiff ○○○●○ Flexible)
Extra flexible (Stiff ○○○○● Flexible)

Benefits of flexible badminton rackets?

  1. Arm-friendly and comfortable
A flexible handle feels wonderfully comfortable while hitting, and much less force is required to continue hitting the shuttle. If you don't have a strong arm, then there is no need to hit hard 'forcibly'. This reduces the risk of arm injuries, and you have much more fun!

  2. More power
A flexible shaft bends very easily, and therefore you can develop power / strength more easily. You can also see it as energy-saving, because less force is needed to hit the shuttle equally far.

Disadvantages of flexible badminton rackets?

  1. Less control
Because the racket is more resilient, the racket will also hit less accurately. Flexible badminton racquets have a little more torque, which means that the racket 'rotates' around its axis. A stiffer racket springs much less, and you can therefore hit the shuttle more precisely with it.

  2. Less power for advanced players
It sounds contradictory, but if a badminton player with a high level buys a badminton racket that is 'too' flexible. Then he or she probably does not play well with such a racket, because they receive far too little feedback. A flexible racket can cause less power for these players and therefore too little control. The advanced badminton players are therefore not going to win with this.

Which type best suits your playing style?

So do you want more control in your success and do you have enough strength and technique? In that case, a stiffer badminton racket will suit you best. But beware, a stiffer racket will also punish mistakes faster. You will really have to get more power from your technique and arm. The big advantage is that you will have more control and accuracy.

Do you not have that much strength and / or do you not have super technique? Then buy a more flexible badminton racket, which will help you with the harder racket of the shuttle.
